Black Compton

Portraits of a city that built itself

A standing wall of family portraits — barbers, teachers, pastors, mechanics, mothers — each donated by a Compton household. The wall grows every quarter. Submit yours at the front desk.

Curator's Note

Compton was built by Black families who refused to leave. This wall is a thank-you note that takes up a whole floor.
